Good news race fans.

We have some good news for rally racing fans out there. NACON and KT Racing announced today that WRC 9, the official video game of the FIA World Rally Championship, will be available for the PlayStation 5 launch. This places the release at either November 12 or the 19th depending on which country you live in. The studios promise that they will deliver a 4K and 60fps experience on the PlayStation 5.

WRC 9 has been released already for current-gen consoles back on September 3, this includes the PC launch at the same time. For those not on the PC, the next-gen experience will be the first time that the game runs at 60fps for a "more immersive driving experience."

"Like all gamers around the world, we couldn't wait to try out the next generation of consoles. After many months of work, it's an honour to be there on day one with one of our flagship titles," said Benoit Clerc, Head of Publishing at NACON. The possibilities offered by the new consoles have allowed us to take WRC 9 to a new and incredible level of performance and smooth gameplay, further demonstrating KT Racing's expertise in racing simulations."
WRC 9 on the PlayStation 5 will also include the October update. This update added in six new stages for Rally Finland, an additional WRC driver, and a new Photo Mode.

KT Racing will also make use of some of the new technologies used in the PlayStation 5. Specifically, they will be using the haptic features of the DualSense controller.

On Playstation®5, KT Racing is using the new haptic features of the DualSense™ controller to develop and improve the feedback provided by the different road surfaces encountered in the World Rally Championship. Thanks to the subtle vibrations possible with the DualSense™ controller, players can experience the most realistic driving sensations yet and feel the difference between asphalt, gravel and snow, as well as the direction of impacts. In terms of gameplay, the controller's innovative triggers have also been used to provide more feedback. They react to the vehicle's condition, such as making acceleration harder when the car is damaged.
WRC 9 on the PS5 will be a free upgrade if you already own the PS4 version of the game.
