If you often use your Mac for work and have no time to do things like reviewing your apps and files, there are ways you can simplify your path to a faster and more optimized Mac computer.

The most important factor you need to deal with is your computer’s storage space - the less free storage space you will have, the slower your Mac will become. Therefore, it is clever to start by uninstalling big apps that you do not use and removing large files.

To do it fast, you can look up this page that will help you clean up and optimize your Mac smoothly and in no time. After your Mac is cleaned, you will be able to see a clear difference in speed and performance levels.

Tip #2: Clean up Your Desktop
If your Mac is running slow, then one of the main reasons could be a heavily cluttered Desktop. Sure, we understand that it is very convenient to save downloaded files on your Desktop so that you can access them quickly. Also, it is very convenient to keep your work files, for example, graphic designs on your Desktop, so you can quickly continue working on them.

But unfortunately, not for long. Opening your files from your Desktop only stays convenient when you only have a few items on the Desktop. If you have more - it is very easy to get lost, become unproductive, make mistakes, and waste precious time looking for the right file.

More to it, Desktop is also a folder and Mac uses its memory resources to display every single thumbnail that you have placed on your Desktop, leaving fewer resources for more important processes, and making your Mac perform slower. Now macOS has a Stacks function that can organize your Desktop for you by placing the files in folders by their type.

Tip #3: Remove Startup Items

If when starting your Mac, you notice that it takes a lot more time to boot, then it means you might need to remove some of the startup items to make the booting process faster. Some of the apps that start together with your computer might be useful and some - not so much.

If you use those apps every single time you turn on your Mac, then there is no point in removing them, because you will have to launch them anyway. But if you see some apps that you rarely use, the best way to go is to remove them from the startup items.

If you do not remember adding these items to your startup, you can either be dealing with malware, and should look for a proper antivirus for Mac, or it could be simply a default setting that occurs quite often. When you install an app, you agree with the terms and conditions, but usually, no one reads it.

The more often you use your website browser, either it is Safari or any other, the more browser cache files you have on your Mac. And the more clogged up with files your computer is, the slower it will perform. It is a closed cycle.

More to it, your browser saves temporary cache files to load information faster, especially on those websites that you like to visit most often. But the storage for the browser cache files is very limited therefore you might be facing a problem of a slow website browser soon if you never clean your browser cache.
