And other marketing speak.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Insomniac Games took to the PlayStation Blog today to talk about some of the cool tech that will be utilized in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This PlayStation 5 launch title is said to be "akin to a game like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy" in terms of overall scope. So it's not quite a full sequel, one of which is still presumably coming at some point, but it's also a fair bit more robust than an add-on.

Will it be priced accordingly? That's still to be determined.

In addition to that little nugget of information, the creative director on the game Brian Horton took a few moments to talk about some of the technical wizardry that they have been able to utilize thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5. Keep in mind here that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a PlayStation 5 exclusive title and will not be coming to the PlayStation 4.

We are also excited for the game to demonstrate the power of PlayStation 5 this holiday. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will show off near-instant loading, ray-tracing, 3D audio and the DualSense controller. We’ve upgraded our characters with 4D scans and improved skin shading for more realistic looking characters and spline-based hair that moves far more naturally. Many of the city’s assets have also been updated to take advantage of the new console. As you experience Miles’s story, you’ll see, hear, and feel things in a whole new way, all thanks to PS5.
You read that correctly. The characters were upgraded with "4D scans!" What does that even mean? Did Insomniac find out a way to manipulate both time and space, but then also transfer that fourth dimension data into something that is usable in the 3D game environment? That's some wild marketing speak there, perhaps some of the most outlandish in quite some time.

Regardless of that 4D scan speak, the rest of that sounds fantastic! Ray-tracing and 3D audio alone are impressive game changers for a lot of games and something that many PC users have had access to for a while now. The fact that it's making its way to consoles can only be a positive thing.
