Soccer just isn't soccer without the fans.
Premiere League Sky Sports

Sky Sports, a UK broadcasting network, is teaming up with EA Sports in an effort to bring fans some virtual crowd noise to upcoming soccer matches.

Come June 17, the Premier League will restart but it will do so in empty stadiums. That means for both the players and fans at home, the stadium crowd noises will be absent. You ever watch a professional sporting event without a crowd? Can you even imagine what that would be like? It would be lifeless and probably full of a lot of awkward grunting that echoes throughout the empty venues.

The stadiums for these soccer matches will remain empty for a while thanks to Covid-19. However, thanks to this partnership with EA, those watching from home will get some level of familiarity going on. Specifically, Sky Sports has worked with EA's FIFA team to create a number of "bespoke and team-specific crowd noises." This also includes team-specific chants and team specific noises that will probably sound familiar to those who have played EA's FIFA 20.

Sky Sports viewers will be able to select whether or not they want to hear the crowd noises or not while watching. One channel will have no fake audio included while another will include the added fake stadium and crowd noises.

This all begins when coverage resumes on June 17. Sky Sports will air "64 matches across the final rounds of the 2019/20 Premier League, including 25 on Sky's free-to-air Pick channel."
