Has it really been a year already?
Metro Exodus

On January 28, 2019, publisher Deep Silver announced that Metro Exodus would be a timed-exclusive on the Epic Games Store (affiliate link). In the here and now, this is a fairly common pile of crap that we're used to seeing and experiencing. At that time, however, it was the early days of these sorts of announcements. Outrage was palpable. Tempers were on edge. And so on and so forth with the cliches.

Metro Exodus would be exclusively sold on the Epic Games Store for a period of one year. The one-year period would begin on the game's release date of February 15, 2019 and run through until February 15, 2020. Just like that, it's almost February 15, 2020 and that means Metro Exodus will again be sold on Steam

Note that I said again in the previous paragraph. See, pre-orders for Metro Exodus were previously available for a while on Steam ahead of the game's launch. It was actually still purchasable through Steam up until Deep Silver made the exclusivity announcement on January 28. At the very least, those that managed to purchase the game through Steam before it was pulled would still be able to download and play the game plus all DLC.

Was the decision to go Epic exclusive for a year after already starting to sell the game on Steam a shitty move from Deep Silver? Absolutely. Would that be the last shitty thing Deep Silver did with regards to Epic Games Store exclusives? Absolutely not. I'd be a fool if I didn't remind everyone about the complete debacle that went down with Shenmue 3 and Kickstarter. However, that's not why we're here today.

Today, we're here to announce the exact timing on when Metro Exodus can be purchased once more through Steam. According to the official Metro Exodus Twitter, the game will return to the Steam Store on February 15, 2020 at:
  • 00:00 (ET)
  • 5:00 (GMT/UTC)
  • 6:00 (CET)
  • 6:00 (AEDT)
Metro Exodus is developed by 4A Games. It is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Epic Games Store, and soon on PC via Steam.
