Fellow Traveller and Chance Agency revealed today that their upcoming "emotional survival game," Neo Cab, will be released on October 3. Furthermore, a demo for the game is also available right now on the PC via Steam or on the Nintendo Switch.
The eventual release of Neo Cab on the PC will go for $14.99 (USD), while the Switch release will retail for $19.99. Pre-orders for the game on either platform are available right now. The Steam release is for both Windows and Mac.
In Neo Cab, you will meet and interact with a lot of potentially interesting characters. You are LIna, one of the last human drivers in the near-future, AI-driven world. Lina is on the search for her friend that has gone missing. With little funds available to her, she must keep driving to earn funds to keep up her search. You make use of the Neo Cab app to navigate the city, select passengers, and engage with them to hear their stories.
Creative Lead Patrick Ewing says that the game was inspired by the rise of our "app-driven daily lives."
“What are the merits of personal, human service and why are sterile, automated interactions often presented as a core part of utopia? In Neo Cab, Lina is one of the last human drivers, and so those who get into her cab are in need of the human touch! Some of her passengers will enjoy having a conversation while they get from Point A to Point B. Others might prefer that automated utopia, and see Lina as just another node in the service mesh of automated capitalism.â€
