YOLO!
Borderlands 3

2K Games just announced that everyone who pre-ordered Borderlands 3 through the Epic Games Store, will actually have the ability to pre-load the game just like their console pals. This is quite the turnaround from roughly a month ago when Tim Sweeney said that there wouldn't be any pre-load for the game because "it's complicated."

There is a bit of bad news on this, of course. The pre-load period will begin just two days before the game is set to be released. In addition, this will be the first major test for Epic's so far unproven pre-load capabilities for their Epic Games Store.

The good news is that the game will have a simultaneous release time around the world, at least for the PC version. Because of this, some places will actually get the game earlier than expected. The release for Borderlands 3 on the PC is now set for September 12 at 7PM (ET). That's at least a good five hours ahead of a typical rolling midnight release for those on the East coast. Those on the West coast will get the game unlocked at 4PM (PT).

As far as we are aware, the console release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will still be a rolling midnight release as usual.

Borderlands 3 is slated to hit other PC storefronts after a period of 6 months. At least, that was the plan back when it was announced in April. With this game, I wouldn't say that anything is necessarily set in stone, especially with Gearbox's CEO being who he is.
