They had zombies before, so...
Red Dead Redemption 2 alien DLC

Update on July 23, 2019, 7:14PM (ET): The Reddit user that started this rumor, throwaway11113454, has since come forward and admitted that they made it all up.

Then again, we kind of already figured as much. Here is their statement on why they started this rumor.

1. There is no dlc for Red Dead Redemption 2 or remake of the first game as far as I know.

2. This was an experiment I have always wanted to do regarding the spreading of rumors in video game culture. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and wondering how I was going to do it, then I saw red dead online was basically being ignored (most likely not, but the fans are in the dust about it, including me) so this was basically a good starting point for me.

So first I thought about here there were a lot of alien references in RDR 2’s story mode, so I started my “leak” on that. I made up a somewhat believable story that my “friend from rockstar” told me. (Real original right?) then I put in small details I thought in my head would make sense such as “Still playing as Arthur”. But I stayed real vague just to build up some speculation. Then I thought of what I wanted out of a story dlc. I wanted a remake of the first game with all of the bells and whistles of the recent game. And the rest is pretty much history, so I expected it to be ignored and the next day I open my reddit and I see the biggest notification list I have ever had!

I was simply amazed at how my bullshit rumors could blow up, a couple of hours later I went on the google app, and it has tabs with news, and at the very top was this article by comicbook (who report on every rumor from this subreddit almost) https://comicbook.com/gaming/2019/07...ockstar-games/

And that’s when things got real, so I let people build more speculation for a couple of days. And sure enough, one of the gaming sites I read on reported on it https://www.gamesradar.com/red-dead-...c-aliens-leak/ . Then I was curious of the YouTube videos being made, and sure enough there were! https://youtu.be/fF6pCsZNIf4 this was at the very top!

And he drank every sip of my tea, and judging by his comment section, they didn’t! I was wondering if there were videos were people didn’t believe me and sure enough there was one by Fizhy! https://youtu.be/kRmVK_9xXsw .

Then I realized I was getting to many peoples hopes up, so I decided to write this post. And through this experiment I learned that some people will believe anything that someone says if it sounds believable. And also that mass media is a powerful tool, over 70k people at least have seen this fake leak that I wrote, and I’m glad that a majority of people saw through it! From now on the original leak will stay up unless the mods say otherwise but I will link this to clarify it was all fake! Thanks for listening!
You can't fool us twice, mystery leaker. We're on to you. This admission of being fake is the real fake news here! The original "leak" is real! Believe everything! Believe nothing! Alien bears are coming to Red Dead! Remake for the PlayStation 9! The frogs are turning us into drinking water!

Original: There is a new rumor going around that says Rockstar is working on some new DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2. The rumor originates from an anonymous throwaway account on Reddit (that's already a huge red flag), who says that they have a friend working at Rockstar as an environmental artist. Said friend allegedly told the throwaway account about this DLC that is being worked on.

The Reddit thread says that this content is looking to be released in late 2019 or early 2020. It will be a big, story based piece of content that again sees you playing as Arthur Morgan. There will supposedly be aliens involved. You know, I remember that there was a huge and long-running rumor about alien related content for Grand Theft Auto V that never materialized. Maybe that Area 51 raid will uncover all of the answers. Hell, maybe they'll even find a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 while they're at it.

The rumor continues on to say that this DLC will play similar to the Undead Nightmare expansion for the first Red Dead Redemption. Undead Nightmare was decidedly unlike most anything else in the first game but it ended up being a fantastic piece of content.

The throwaway account continues on to say that Rockstar is working on a remake of Red Dead Redemption that will be out in time for the game's 10th anniversary in 2020. However, eternal delays may have pushed that back to an early 2021 release. Supposedly, John Marsten's voice actor, Rob Wiethoff, recorded additional lines for segments that will better bridge the gap between the events of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the subsequent events in Red Dead Redemption.

This supposed Red Dead Redemption remake will also feature a slightly expanded map. They go on to also say that Rockstar shifted a significant portion of their Red Dead Online team to work on this supposed remake.

This has about as much credibility as your grade school friend who shared some hot gaming news from his "uncle that works at Nintendo." That is to say: This is almost certainly completely made up.

The only thing we know for certain is that Rockstar is about to open up the casino in GTA Online this week. I'm sure that'll be interesting for a bit.
