Hunt: Showdown

Spring is just around the corner. With it will come flowers, allergies, scary bugs, and the release of Hunt: Showdown on the Xbox One Game Preview program. Crytek revealed some of what players can expect when this game is unleashed onto the unsuspecting Xbox crowd. There is even a new teaser of the gameplay to provide you a glimpse of the action in this PvPvE style game.

In short: Hunt: Showdown is a first-person game that combines player vs. player gameplay in an environment that also has plenty of nasty things that want you dead. Ten players, typically made up of teams of two, compete against each other as they try to retrieve a bounty and make it out alive. The concept is simple but the execution can be quite difficult.

An exact date for this release is not yet known. I'm sure there will be additional news on this just before it goes live.

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that combines the thrill of first person shooters and survival games and packs those elements into a match-based format. Each match pits up to ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they compete for bounty by taking out gruesome monsters in the swamps of Louisiana in what critiques have called a unique blend of PvP and PvE elements. But once players have taken a bounty, they instantly become a target for every other Hunter left on the map. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything, and death is permanent. In Hunt's Quick Play mode, ten solo players compete for the chance to keep their Hunter at the end of the match—and a considerable amount of gold.
