Hitman 2

Hitman 2 developer IO Interactive is opening a second studio that will allow the developer to focus on Hitman and new franchises.

Earlier today, IO Interactive announced that they are opening a new studio in Malmö, Sweden. This new studio will help the main studio with ongoing development of the Hitman series, including Hitman 2. It will also allow the studio the freedom to work on new franchises for the future.

"We are super excited and proud to announce IOI Malmö," says CEO Hakan Abrak. "We will expand IOI to join a buzzing game developer community and bring our own unique IOI culture to this amazing town.

"Furthermore, this will expand our muscles for creating brand-new and exciting endeavours, new universes, new franchise. In other words, IOI Malmö and Copenhagen are one family."
That's not too shabby for a development studio that was let go from Square Enix only two years back in 2017. IO Interactive retained the rights to the Hitman IP. Since then, IO Interactive developed and released Hitman 2 to largely critical praise.
