News broke early this morning that THQ Nordic has acquired Koch Media. The deal, worth 121 million euro, means that THQ Nordic also now owns Deep Silver, the publisher of Saints Row, Dead Island, the upcoming Shenmue 3, the upcoming Metro Exodus, and the recently released Kingdom Come: Deliverance. You know, to name a few franchises you might recognize.

That seems like quite the get for THQ Nordic there. Especially when you consider that back in late 2012, THQ sold off most of their assets to places like Koch Media and Nordic Games. Nordic Games then became THQ Nordic in 2016. In just the past year and a half, THQ Nordic picked up the licenses to game franchises such as Darksiders, Supreme Commander, and Red Faction. THQ Nordic also owns the rights to the well received RPG ELEX and This is the Police.

To put it another way: THQ again owns the rights to the Saints Row and Metro franchises, in addition to a ton of other great franchises.

It's early days but this sounds incredibly exciting. It will be very interesting to see how THQ handles these new and returning franchises that are back under its umbrella.
