Bethesda Explains Why They Are Trying Paid Skyrim Mods on Steam
Bethesda has just offered up their justification for why they are offering up mod creators the option of charging a fee for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim mods. Let's see what they have to say.
There are many, many more words on Bethesda's latest blog entry but most of what was actually said was already posted above.
The "current industry standard" is probably very easy to say when you, Bethesda, are the only studio in the industry that are doing this. The actions and reality of what is actually happening is directly in contrast to what you're saying. And frankly, if you give a damn about modding or the modding community, a 25% cut for the modders is complete bullshit.
Valve and Bethesda and are still going about this entire thing in completely the wrong way.
That's ridiculous. Valve might deserve a cut cause they host it on their servers, but Bethesda doesn't need a cut at all, much less a bigger one than the modder.
