Invisible Terrain Glitch

Yup, this happened to me once too.
The only thing I could think of that may have caused it is that I had accedently tabbed out to desktop while it was loading the level. Stupid TS.

That's what I was thinking, as I have a habit of alt-tabbing out to look at various things, even while loading. Perhaps if you do it at a certain % on the load bar? Still pure speculation right now though...I'll have to test this.

So some friends wanted me to join them in some Betafield 2, and me being bored, I fired up the n00bfest.

this is a problem similar to the one ATI users have experienced, the fix for the ATI issue is to install the demo, or reinstall the game pre 1.2, copy all the shader files to a temporary directory, patch the game to 1.2, and paste all those files into your 1.2 shader directory (i forget what directory it is)....im sure u can do a search to find it

Cause for a couple of months, I didn't. I'm waiting on mods. The posts are me discussing my opinion about the game, which around the demo, I was very excited out. Since then, the game as went downhill to me, but I keep hanging around until either a mod makes it playable again, or EA/DICE do something right for a change and stop listening to the countless whining people who simply can't play and ask for nerfs, and actually work on the performance and coding errors that for the most part have existed since the demo, and most which have gotten worse since then.

OK, seriously now, this has happened to me too. I'm not sure what causes it. I just assumed it was another one of the usual bugs and kept playing. It eventually went away.

That happened to me once with either the original game or second patch. I think just all walls were invisible. Now I just see invisible terrain down in the distance like roads and stuff... more annoying than a problem...

I get similar glitches (mostly on Sharqi) but the textures turn black instead. Sometimes it's the whole field of view so i can't see. Only happened after 1.12

Just play the game and make use of your $50 because it's gonna get a helluva lot worse before it gets any better and you know it.

I was waiting on that. Took longer than I thought though. I DID feel a little dirty by not reloading, but I had to obtain proof of this anamoly.

I knew that by patch 1.02 I define the better part as mods. I honestly don't think EA/DICE will fix BF2, especially with their mentally-incompetent approach to the way the gameplay works. My $50 worth will come when the true potential of the engine is used, hence when mods come.
