Because hard liquor is big over here. Its not like Europe (sorry might be sterotypical here) where most people drink wine, which in small amounts has been proven to be good for your health. Thats why 21 is the legal drinking age. It used to be 18 in the 70s but teen deaths skyrocketed so they changed it back to 21.
