We didn't set their deadlines. They did. And they have failed to meet them. Now that they plan on pushing it back to the middle of next year... why bother? They're fired. People keep giving them chances since everyone loved 1942 so much. BF: Vietnam was a buggy mess. BF2 was filled with horrible bugs that finally got mostly fixed, sort of. BF2142...
Now 1943. How many times do you let an employee drop the ball before you can him? So now how many times do you let a company squeeze out a turd with the intent to polish it later or miss deadlines, by months or more, before you finally write them off?
Great ideas and concepts, poor execution. Let them just finish the slide and start making shovelware for the DS and Wii and get it over with.
If they don't make announcements (usually wildly inaccurate ones, fair enough) all we hear is 'where is our info, secretive b@stards', and if they do announce and get it wrong, then the sh1t hits the forum, so to speak.
I'm as keen as anyone to get the next gen of BF games for PC but whatcha gonna do?
People who sell products are basically the employees of their prospective markets by proxy. If you alienate and marginalize a portion of your market, you lose sales and therefore money. If you lose money, your shareholders aren't happy. If your shareholders aren't happy, nobody's happy. If your game doesn't sell as well, you lose development budget for your next game. And that's if you even get a next game.
Just because you're willing to gulp down poo doesn't mean I'll choke it down, too. Go ahead and buy every Dice product they release in the misguided belief that your money goes to making future games better.
What, you haven't spent 10% of your paycheck on costumes in Heroes yet? But I thought all of the money they got went to improving future games? Don't you want the next game to be awesome?
Personally, I'll remember all of the shenanigans of the past and present and think really hard about my next purchase from Dice or EA in general. But I'm a minority, and they know it. They know that hordes will line up to guzzle the kool-aid and please the almighty shareholders once more.
Unless you have some sort of horrible disease and the doctor has given you only three months to live (in that case why aren't you in the Bahamas?), why would you write off a game simply because it's being released a few months later than what was estimated? We didn't set their deadlines. They did. And they have failed to meet them. Now that they plan on pushing it back to the middle of next year... why bother? They're fired.
Wait, so you're saying they shouldn't release a game before it's finished...but they also shouldn't delay the game so it can be finished? What are they supposed to do, get a time machine and finish it in the future and then bring it back to the past for release? Of course it sucks when our favorite games are delayed, but it happens with every developer, including the almighty infallible Valve. So now how many times do you let a company squeeze out a turd with the intent to polish it later or miss deadlines, by months or more, before you finally write them off?
I bet the shareholders are furious now that BF1943 is the best selling XBLA/PSN game ever.
Some people need to move away from Battlefield. No matter what Dice does some people are going to act like babies.
Im sure some people will buy it. Im sure even more wont.
Tbh im tired of being experimented on by game companies. I know the kind of game i want to play, and its basically the only game i really want to play. I really dont want anything new.
What i want, is what i already know i like. A proper sequel to B1942. I really dont want anything else and i have zero plan to buy anything else, ever. I would be eternally happy playing sequels to BF1942 for the rest of my days infact.
Put one out every few years ill buy them all, guaranteed.
No, I want a new ww2 title for the Battlefield series.
And that would include any sequel to BF1942, which just so happens was a WW2 title. No, I want a new ww2 title for the Battlefield series
And since i asked for a sequel to BF1942 (WW2), it will have ALL the vehicles this time. Not just some vehicles.. The reason i ask for a sequel to 1942. None of the Battlefields that have come out since BF1942, had near as many vehicles or the Variety of combat, that 1942 had. Again, this is why i want a Sequel to BF1942.
A sequel to 1942 will have Naval Combat and capital ships that you can drive. It will have 64 player minimum, 128 players if they really want to impress people. In other words, It'll have all the things that BF1942 had plus more, not less..
Imo these are minimum requirements for any BF game, if they want me to as a customer. These things are what set BattleField apart from all the rest in the first place. And each version since 1942 hasnt been quite as good imo.
I want them to get back to that winning formula that was BF1942, that had everything.
Again, I say that I want a Sequel to BF1942, because it was WW2. And it was the best BF so far by a mile. As far as size of the game, and overall variety of gameplay. And of course as a sequel it can also have all the good stuff from the newer Battlefield games aswell, like squads and so on.
I dont want a 1943 that is half the game that bf1942 was! Thats for sure. So yes they should leave 1943 to the consoles and make a real PC Battlefield game. Preferably a proper sequel to BF1942. Not half a sequel like 1943 is.
