Hi, im getting around 30-40 FPS and i should b getting more.
Heres what i have;
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, 2.5Ghz
2048MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Super 8600 GT 512MB
Windows XP Home Edition
and in COD 4
Video mode - 1280x1024
Screen refresh rate - 70hz
aspect ration - auto
anti-aisling - 2x
sync every frame - yes
dual video cards - no
shadows - yes
specular map - yes
depth of field - no
glow - yes
number of dynamic lights - low
soften smoke edges - no
ragdoll - no
bullet impact - yes
model detail - normal
water detail - low
Whats giving me the low FPS and what can i do about it...
I got AMD dual core optimizer but that seems to do not alot..
i would have thought i should b getting much better FPS than 30..
Please help
Mike
That sounds right. If you want more FPS, turn off sync every frame, shadows, specular map, glow, and anti aliasing. that's how I ran it when I had an 8600GT. I got an average of 60 FPS, high of 125 when in buildings, and a low of like 35 in lots of smoke or explosions
what does specular map and glow do?
I can't really tell what glow does, but specular map makes things shiny and reflective.
Nobody knows what glow does lol. Specular takes a HUGE hit to your perfomance when it's on (I drop about 20 FPS) so make sure that is off - it's not worth it!
Also, while it won't necessarily increase your FPS, enter this in console:
/com_maxfps 125 (if com doesn't work, change it to /cg_)
But yeah, make sure everything is on low/off. While I can run the game fine on medium, I still think it looks amazing on low, plus I get better FPS![]()
I'd recommend:
Video mode - 1280x1024
Screen refresh rate - 70hz
aspect ration - auto
anti-aisling - Off
sync every frame - no (this may be causing 'low constant fps')
dual video cards - no
shadows - no
specular map - no
depth of field - no
glow - no
number of dynamic lights - low
soften smoke edges - no
ragdoll - no
bullet impact - no
model detail - normal
water detail - low
That might help... If not read through a CoD4 Tweak Guide on the internet...
No, go to 1024x768, it still looks great (I run it) and increases FPS.
Also, there is barely any difference in model detail from medium to low, so I'd drop that to low as well.
The game looks just fine on low, it's not like BF2.
Model Detail - Low = Not really allowed for competitive gaming... since it removes grass and stuff... so if you did set it to low you'd only get kicked by pb if you were in a clan match with cb/cal...
I play competitively (leagues) on all low graphics, so I'm not too sure what you're talking about?
