Getting financing threw the dealership comes with some nice incentives. Like I know in Chicago if you finance threw the dealership you get free car washes, better warranty's, less problems. The real sign and drive deal.

Or, if you want to do the other option...

Go to the bank, filling out applications.... waiting..... recieving a check.....going to dealership... waiting for dealership to accept the loan/cashiers check.. driving.

Imagine a loan officer from a bank and a pushy car salesman trying to work out a deal? Things will drag and you will suffer.

You say you dont have much cash?
Almost all private banks require a 10-30% down payment. Dealerships offer first month free(on good credit), and you only have to pay the tax title and registration.

Your parents as co-signers will def help the % rate. When I co-signed with my parents I got a % of 5.4% on 10k borrowed.

yeah but unless your dumb enough to pay the msrp ,you can get your down payment thru dealing, like if its 30,000 msrp, and u get it down to 25,000 then do downpayment will be required, unless ur with a screwed up bank.

you can call your favorite local bank and tell them ur wanna buy a new car and wanna be approved and know the rate and they will approve you before you go to any lot, they wanna rough estimate of how much your wannting to borrow is all. then if there rate beats the dealer , the dealer can fax the info to them, and by time you drive there they will have you set to sign & have your car pretty quick.

you can also have them finanance your sales tax & tags if you want.

I'm to young to have delt with banks alot in my day, I did not know it was that easy.

    As for what 9ff said,

Car trade-ins are a major weapon in your pocket while negioting with a dealer.

I've always found that you're much better of selling your current car outright then trying to do a trade. You're never going to get anywhere near Blue Book on your trade in no matter what condition it is in. Selling it, however, can get you Blue Book or close to it.

very true, and gotta consider what your gettin rid of will it be easy to sell in your area.
see if they give you 3000. on paper for your car, well they mighta had 30% markup, you mighta got them down to 25 if your lucky, well they will take your car and mark it up 30% and make a hit twice with you.
convience to trade in, but really not smart.

^^^ nah dude, not so, you make the deal all they do is go put it in there system, they have most time atleast 50 banks competing for you loan and thats why you usually will get a better rate than your local bank, but allways wise to check local bank.

crap shop around, not only for car lots, but ever avenue of financing , they hate smart shoppers but will make money off you so they will put up with you even though they'd rather sell to the schmuck that just pulled up:nod:

go home, get there best price, tell them " i'll let you know, gonna go shop around" oh man they allmost cry, dont buy anything they say, just keep askin "wellis that your best price" and get his low price & leave, go to ever car dealer that has the car style u want do the same, GO HOME, get on phone, work them like a B!tch, make them move to you...

the lancer is also a wayyyyy better deal compared to the 3
    Are you smoking something?

The mazda 3 is one of the best rated small cars out there. I've never heard that many great things about lancers though.

    My dad has a 05 Mazda3 S, and its a nice car.

A Mazdaspeed3 would be even nicer.

the lancer is 152 hp, 10 year warranty, 30mpg, best crash rating. theres been NO problems with it yet. my friend had a 3. he absolutely hated it said it was the worst piece of **** he ever owned. power windows and locks stopped working, battery died, blew fuses all the time, lotsa engine problems, and the paint chips easily because its very thin.

    Ever hear of a lemon?

Go look at reviews on mazda 3's and then rethink that.
