I won't say FPSes have fragmented, but rather diluted, they (the developers) are trying to bring.. too many aspects into the game.
Well the singleplayer aspects of some of the new games have been great, COD4, Crysis, Bioshock, etc. but the multiplayer on those that do have it at all has been shallow and nothing special.
The last truly great mp games were tribes (never got really good at it, but it owned), AA and ut2004, ut.
The games that are played now are good too but there are always some really *snip* annoying bugs, gameplay aspects, etc with em.
AA 3.0 is going to be awesome when it finally comes out hopefully Fall this year (not to mention the free part).
Wait.....how exactly is ET:QW a teamplayer game???
In case you forgot, everybody is just running around to get some XP....and nothing else. Objectives won't get completed and everybody is deploying turrets near spawn areas. Yep, that really sounds like a game for teamplayers.
All I can say is, what a load of crap.
On the GameReplays forums, someone posted more or less the same thing, except the conclusion that they drawn was that "RTS games are on the fall".
No type of game will fall. I will always like FPS games. If all companies' stopped producing FPS games, then one company would see the niche and develop one, which FPS fans would buy. All that is happening now is that, as there are so many games, the fan base has been spread thin. Not a big deal really.
Agreed, but RTS games have been in decline for some while now with only Supreme Commander, World in Conflict, CnC: Tiberian Wars and anything Total War keeping the life blood of the genre pumping.
I haven't touched an RTS since Myth, though World in Conflict peaks my interest....but there is an RTS "hopefully" coming out in the not to distant future that if its as good as I'm lead to believe I'll make a return to RTS.
Point and click adventures. :cry:No type of game will fall.
Agree again....FPS fans have really been spoilt for choice last year with almost everything (that was above par) coming out in the last Q. I still haven't bought Bioshock, HL: Orange Box, etc....I'd kiss all my freetime goodbye if I did and OD on FPS games. :dead:I will always like FPS games. LULZ
Not even close.
If anything, we're privileged to be witnessing the ongoing development of virtual reality. We're limited to monitors for now, but as computing power increases and new technologies emerge, everything will be moving to first-person perspective.
Technically, it's a puzzle game designed around a first-person perspective. You could call it an FPP...![]()
