Does anyone else think that ladders in this game are retarded? I have recently been find myself to die more from falling off a ladder than i have the GL (which i think is actually dying down alot).
basically on maps such as crash on the top of the fenced in bu8ilding there is a ladder over the side, i have not once on any level managed to climb back DOWN a ladder without falling to my death
Whats the trick to it as i want to use it as a fast escape?
The best down ladder component is probably the Holy Grail of FPS.
Quickly face the ladder while you make your way down? That's what I do.
It's faster to injure yourself on the fall though.
So I'm not the only one that gets to a high position and decides I'll be there till I get shot.
I haven't been able to successfully climb down a ladder yet. :|: The game doesn't "lock on" to it, unless there is a trick to doing so.
well i come from CSS and BF where your player would lock on to the ladder and it would allow you to climb down, i dont even attempt to climb down in CoD4.
I haven't played COD2 in ages...how did that game handle climbing down a ladder?
I just look down as I approach the ladder and I lock on while pressing "W" or move forward into the ladder. You have to swing yourself around a little bit to re-orient the toon so he's now facing the other way. Just practice it a few times.
BTW, some ladders do seem to be difficult to navigate even after you know the technique. This should just be an easy thing to do in a game.
Also, who else is annoyed at the ladders on trucks in various maps which don't work? ... :wall:
One of my clan members suggested this...seems similar to what Rob Jordan posted above:
I went up and down the ladder on the 3rd story building on Crash several times. What I do is stand at the top of the ladder, turn around, and step back. It seems I immediately drop down a steps distance but not fall. Then I just hit the down key and down I go.
EDIT: I just tried it, on the weird window-ladder on Crossfire, at the archway/fruit stand side of the street. I would always fall out of that window previously, shortly after mantling up on it. But, if you turn around and face back the way you came as soon as you mantle up onto the window ledge, then you actually do climb down the ladder.
So, bugs aside, to climb down a ladder, you do indeed need to turn around and back up onto it.
