I have been getting the stop error (blue screen and then a reboot) quite a bit lately. It says something about my gpu driver. I'm using the newest beta driver from NVidia. I don't know if it has anything to do with my problem, but when I started up the game today it came with an error saying all my stats had been reset. This can't be true...
Hmm, the only thing I've heard causing a stats reset is playing on modded servers that aren't set up correctly.
I'm not really sure if there's a way to get your stats back, but for future reference, back up the "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\<profile name>" folder or just the mpdata file in that folder.
With the blue screen and crashing happening, it may have corrupted your profile.
COPY your profile to another folder or harddrive and run checkdisk on your system. It may correct your issue, MAY.
Crunch
Yep, the file has been corrupted. From now on I will back up my file after play. I don't know what checkdisk is since my OS is danish and I can't find anything which could be the same.
You can go to MY COMPUTER
RIGHT click on your harddrive and select PROPERTIES
Click the TOOLS tab
Select under ERROR CHECKING>>CHECK NOW button
Check box both boxes and say OK.
Restart computer and it will do it. Im sure the tools will be the same in danish. I would hope anyway.
Crunch
What should I do with my corrupted file? Just leave it in the right folder? And, is it my OS drive I have to check or the drive with COD4 installed?
No they haven't they just got deleted or currupted since everything is saved on your PC, can't blame the devs for anythingAll my stats have been reset![]()
Deleted/corrupted or not, my stats have been reset...the only one I'm blaming is my pc
