1.41 patch, now BF wont start

i just got the game the other day, played a little without the any patches, now i went and downloaded the 1.41 patch, but now when i try to start the game, the screen goes black for a few seconds, then the game closes out. this is very frustrating. it worked fine before the patch. please help

Go and check the last couple of days of forum posts and you should find an answer. There has been a few.

Download 1.41 from an alternative source. Reinstall.

Defrag your hard drive as well.

Possibly manually update your punkbuster.

what difference do you think downloading from a alternative source will make? the downloading takes so dang long to it sucks

Well, when it did that to me, it ment I need a new video card.
Then, when I got a new one, it worked.

Because it may be nerfed and this will eliminate a variable. You come here and you don't know what your system's problem is. There are a few general things that take less time and money than the more advanced ideas.

So basically, suck it up. This is to get you online after all. I don't really care if you do it, but you did come here for help.

What video card do you use?

if its an ATI card then do some Driver updates, I've read in the change logs in the .txt's that having a certain AA setting w/ a certain resolution will cause BF2 to launch improperly and in your case, not at all

update your drivers whether its an ATI or Nvidia card
