PS3 and HDTV

is it really necessary to have an hdtv for ps3..my m8 told me if i dont have one i wont be able to tell the difference between ps2 and ps3:cry: thats bull S**t because im buying the ps3 in jan...also i want to play online but my pc is in my living room and i want to play in my romm and dont have wireless internet...is there some way i could buy a non-wireless router and plug it into my DSL phone jack in my room?? kinda hard to explain lol...

Is it a normal phone jack or is your house wired with cat5?

I've never liked playing on consoles because the TV resolution is so much lower than a computer monitor. If you use a PS3 on a standard TV set you'll get the same resolution as you get with any other console or TV, but you'll still of course be able to see and improved effects. But if you want it to look it's best you'd need to play with a HDTV or a computer monitor.

I wouldn't take his word for it, go research I wouldn't be suprised if its true, but if your mate is male he'll be trying to make himself feel "bigger" with his superior knowledge

If you have a VIVO card or a TV Tuner on your computer you should be able to route it through that.
