How is the new one suppose to be any better than the old one?Originally Posted by Ali G

At least the ACU is better than wearing this:

There is little to NO black in the ACU.Originally Posted by DMXSNOW
the exceptions are: the stitching of the Name, US Army and pin on skill ID badges (The picture shown is actually an early pre-release). The OD Green backing of the tapes in the pic have been replaced with ACU pattern cloths. The Black Berret is not worn tactically so it doesnt matter. Skill ID badges are also not usually worn in tactical environment.
While the ACU pattern is not perfect... it was chosen as the best option for ONE uniform that can be used in multiple environments... Not as good as the woodland cammo in a woodland environment... not as good as the DCU in the desert... but OK for BOTH without having to own/maintain multiple uniforms. And it does realitlively well in low light situations as well as urban.
It's not that bad and is realitively comfortable.
My brother was saying that they're a hell of alot more comfortable than the BDUs, and those aren't that uncomfortable anyway.
pretty heavy what the soldiers go through... fighting people that believe they get 99 virgins waiting for them if they die is pretty hard i guess
Indeed, how tough it must be to fight a people who belive they are doing God's work by blowing themselves up.Originally Posted by shareefa
its digital camo - the best you can get - the one posted isn't the correct one though. there is a desert digital camo pattern

that is the USMC MARPAT. the one posted IS correct, it is the ACU. also digital camo is NOT the best you can get, ity is done primarily because pixelized uniforms are harder to see in night vision.
The ACU seems to have several varying color patterns, plus dust on the uniforms help. also i heard something about reflective dyes being used to reflect ambient light off of the uniforms
all i can say is: do a little research.Originally Posted by troybob
the ones i posted are from the ARMY!!! This one is from the USMC!! they are different.
this is the internet - i don't have to research. =p

This was not by design, but rather varying "Versions' of the uniform as it went through it's phases.... which tends to make it a pain in the butt when buying a part of the uniform (When needing to replace damaged pants or tops) only to get home and realise the light beige doesnt quite match up... or the greens is lighter/darker.The ACU seems to have several varying color patterns
It is better now but was horrible when first comming out.
