Hey everyone, this is just a quick update about some of the issues we've had recently with the site.
Near the end of December our domain had expired. Tim and I had not realized this for longer than we care to admit. I just saw that the site up and died one day. He thought maybe something broke on the server we were on. Then he realized (after moving our site to an entirely different server location) that our domain had expired. Whoops.
We, once again, had to contact MyIS to renew it. By "we" I mean that Tim did that. No, I do not know why MyIS still controls that. No,
was released to the public. It didn't take long at all to notice that the game also included a handy "Shop" button right on the main menu of the game.
Opening it revealed microtransactions that allow players to spend real money in order to buy in-game items such as Praxis Kits (used to gain new abilities) and the in-game currency. Frankly, it's pretty damn disgusting to see this. There is no reason why there should have been any microtransactions included in the game.

As you may have already figured, there will not be a "Week in Review" for this past week or even for these past two weeks. E3 took up far too much time and no new games were played.
Actually, that's not 100% true since I did start to play the Far Harbor expansion for Fallout 4 prior to E3. It isn't terrible but it certainly still has that Fallout 4 jankiness that I hated from the core game. That's about all I'll really say on that for now, at least until I actually force myself to play more of that DLC. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but there may very well be weeks that are intentionally (not like how I screwed
It's been a few weeks since I wrote up a new "This Week in Review" feature for the site.
I suppose maybe I owe you a bit of an explanation? Maybe "owe" is a bit too strong since this does involve my personal life and usually what is posted here has nothing to do with my personal life, but I digress.
It's been a rather rough few
weeksyears for me. I've basically been suffering from depression for years now, which I was generally able to "cope" with without any help. But then I started to get anxiety attacks more and more frequently. To those that suffer from them, you know that anxiety
So here's the deal. For the past couple of years now, I've had this grand idea to completely remake the site design to make it look near identical to Kotaku. I had started on the layout change for the main page a while back, but never got very far with it. Obviously, since it's different software being used at both places, a true 1:1 recreation would have not been possible.
But it'd have been close. I'm talking about layout, colors, even a Kotaku-ified logo! I was thinking "Kotaku Gaming Network" or "To-taku" or something equally dumb. It was going to be "ha ha,
