• First Gameplay Trailer and Alpha Test Sign Ups for Godhood

Pretend to be a God with Godhood, the upcoming God sim from Abbey Games (Reus). The studio released their first gameplay trailer for Godhood today and with it comes the first look at what things will be like when you are born a deity with near unlimited powers at their disposal.

Before you read on and check out the trailer, you should know that you can sign up for a chance to join the Godhood alpha test.

From cat worshipping to human sacrifices, Godhood will let players become a newborn deity and experiment with dozens of different dogmas as they create their own religion. As a divine leader, they will have to set clear rules and guide their followers by defining what constitutes a virtue or vice, and what rituals to practice. However, prospective gods will soon learn that their worshippers come with a fair chunk of free will and that control over them isnít total.

In a world where worship means everything, and the number of followers is directly related to the success of a deity, players have to prevent other gods from converting followers, while also increasing their own ranks by continuing the spread of their religion. This religious to and fro makes conflict inevitable and players will face their rivals in ritual combat known as Sacraments. These battles can only be won if players carefully prepare their most trusted worshippers in advance, using rituals to strengthen their faith.

For those interested in playing God over the game itself, the Dutch studio has also revealed that they will be running a Kickstarter campaign for the inclusion of additional content in game early next year with the base game already having been fully funded.

A Kickstarter campaign for DLC? That's a new one to me. But hey, if the core game is already good to go, I see nothing wrong with that approach.
