  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Multiplayer Beta Begins August 10

Last week, Treyarch revealed the dates for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer betas, whichinclude both the early access betas and open betas.

PlayStation 4 players will be able to get an early jump on the action with an exclusive beta that runs from August 3 through August 6. An open beta for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One runs from August 10 through August 13. The PC will have an early access beta starting on August 10 with an open beta beginning August 11.

    • PlayStation 4 (Starts: August 3 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 6 at 10am/PT)
    • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (Starts: August 10 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 13 at 10am/PT)
    • PC Beta Early Access (Starts: August 10 at 10am/PT) *PC exclusively on Battle.Net
    • PC Open Beta (Starts: August 11 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 13 at 10am/PT)

Participation Has Its Rewards: All participants in the Beta will receive a unique, one-of-a-kind calling card that they can proudly display. And for every player that achieves max rank in the Beta, they will earn a Permanent Unlock Token to apply to any piece of Create-a-Class content when the game comes out.

The multiplayer beta will feature game modes such as:

    • Team Deathmatch
    • Domination
    • Hardpoint
    • Search & Destroy
    • Control

In Control, teams alternate rounds between attacking and defending two static objectives. Each team has a limited number of lives in this first-to-three wins match-up, so strategic strikes and defensive positioning are key, making for some fast and frenetic gunfights.

In addition, the Pick 10 system returns which will allow you to create your own custom classes on a point based system. There are also new Special Issue Equipment given to each Specialist. These items do not count against the Pick 10 system. A new slot, Gear, looks to add an extra perk to your class such as faster healing, cheaper killstreaks, etc.

Weapons now have "unique sets of attachments." Some of these attachments are powerful and are being called "Operator Mods."

The PC beta will be exclusive to Battle.net, as will the full release of the game. This shouldn't come as any surprise at this point. The PC beta is being worked on by Treyarch, Blizzard, and Beenox.

“The PC beta will continue the dialog between us and our players. Every piece of feedback helps us to deliver the most balanced, most fun and most polished Call of Duty you have ever played on PC,” said Co-Studio Head, Mark Gordon. “Through our partnerships with Beenox for development and with Blizzard providing us with infrastructure, tools and network – we are bringing a custom experience to PC.”

And what about the promised battle royale mode for Black Ops 4? Well, Blackout as it's called, will have a private beta come September. Details on how you will be able to participate in this beta have not yet been revealed. I'm assuming pre-ordering will play a role. All we know for sure is that the Blackout beta will again appear first on the PlayStation 4.

Quick TGN E3 2018 Wrap Up

E3 was last week and I do believe the dust has finally settled. I decided, for my own sanity really, to try to take things a bit slower this year with getting news up from the event. This was...
