  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is Reportedly Real and Won't Include Multiplayer

Two separate sources have independently confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is indeed real. Both of these sources have also said that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is only the single player component from the original game.

Sources have supplied this information to Charlie Intel and (presumably) other sources have separately supplied this information to Eurogamer. That's two sites and probably two sources that are making this claim. It may also explain why an Amazon Italy listing for Modern Warfare 2 Remastered had it showing up as just 20 (or about $25 USD).

This Amazon Italy listing was for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game and pointed towards an April 30 release date. The $25 price is also well below the asking price that Activision put on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered when they said that they were "listening" and released it separate from Infinite Warfare for $40.

At least Raven Software is working on Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, right? Wrong. It appears as though Raven Software has nothing to do with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. Right now, signs are pointing to Beenox as the team behind this update. They assisted Raven Software in working on Modern Warfare Remastered.

To reiterate: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is almost 100% a real thing and doesn't include multiplayer. Why even bother then? I say this as one of the few people that plays the Call of Duty games just to see how stupid the story is with multiplayer being a "sure, whatever, I guess I'll try it for a little bit." The multiplayer is what fans wanted from Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. I suppose that if nothing else, we might end up seeing the Remastered take on "No Russian" when it shows up on the news after another idiot blames gun violence on video games.

Currently, Activision has not even officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. If the late April release ends up being legitimate, there will probably be something coming very shortly about it.

I was excited for MWR's eventual standalone release on PC, i wanted to play the single player again which was worthwhile, and i dipped into the multiplayer hoping i could play it instead of WW2 which has serious balance problems and bad maps, however the community abandoned it. I don't know if it's the loot stuff they added or the audacious approach Activision took to charging people for DLC maps that were in the original game, but its player counts are far too low on PC, AND THE REMASTERED SINGLE PLAYER DIDN'T EVEN HAVE FOV OPTIONS, WHICH IS INSANE TO ME.
MW2 has a fun campaign which i'd also like to play again, but if PC player counts are anything to go by i guess it's not worth the extra development cost to put the multiplayer in, curious people will pick it up for that, and hopefully it's not bundled in like MWR was, a nice respectful remaster which is what the first one was supposed to be... HOPEFULLY WITH FOV OPTIONS THIS TIME, HOLY CHRIST.
Also there was that rumor of a World at War remaster, which i thought was more likely due to the next release coming from Treyarch, but hey ho.
