• Turtle Rock Studios Releases Fantasy RPG Only for Gear VR

Turtle Rock Studios, the development studio behind games like Left 4 Dead and Evolve, have just released their new turn-based fantasy RPG, The Well. The big twist here is that it's a VR title. The even bigger twist is that it's a VR title made exclusively for the Samsung Gear VR.

"That's funny, Zips!" I hear you, but I'm not joking. I never joke. I don't know how to.

This original, turn-based, fantasy role-playing game is available to download today for $9.99 via the Oculus store. It is also playable for attendees of Oculus Connect 4.

The Well is unlike anything Turtle Rock Studios has created before: a classically designed RPG crafted especially for VR with a stylized, storybook art style and dark, dreamlike atmosphere. Journey to Tholl, an ancient land of fantastic magic and characters teeming with a variety of immersive environments to explore, from lush jungles to haunted bogs and decaying ruins. Discover hidden treasures and battle fearsome creatures in strategic combat encounters to uncover the secrets of this mysterious world.

There are four playable classes to choose from Warrior, Mage, Rogue and Druid each with their own unique arsenal of spells and combat maneuvers. Assemble your party from a diverse cast of companions and level up with new and more powerful abilities to survive the challenges that await.

So it's on the Oculus Store for $9.99 (USD) but it's only for Gear VR devices? I guess maybe this is why I don't run my own business because this doesn't make much sense to me. I suppose there is always a chance that this game will make its way to the Rift and Vive at a later date.

If nothing else, that art style looks great, especially for a game that you play through a mobile device.
