Today, Activision revealed their plans for how DLC and how Elite will be handled once Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is released.

"We’ve learned a lot in our first year of Call of Duty Elite, and we’re very proud that we over delivered on our commitment of playable content to our premium members," said Activision Publishing CEO, Eric Hirshberg. "What we have realized is that several of the Call of Duty Elite services which are currently only available to our premium members for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are things that would further unite, engage and delight our player community. So we are going to make them free for Call of Duty: Black Ops II."

That's great news for fans of the series, but what all does the Elite service include?

Player HQ – Track Call of Duty: Black Ops II performance with rich game statistics, including enhanced match information such as heat maps and recent match data; track challenges and extensively modify your classes like never before using Treyarch’s new Pick 10 Create-a-Class system.

Clan HQ – Join an existing clan or start your own, invite friends and then take part in Call of Duty: Black Ops II clan competitions with cool digital prizing.

Zombies Support – For the millions of Zombies fans out there, now you can track your Zombies personal statistics and compare it to other players’ around the world.

Call of Duty Elite TV – Launching with tablet support with Call of Duty: Black Ops II, the new Call of Duty Elite TV will deliver a renewed community focus featuring developer tips and strategy programming, custom class overviews and more.

Social Sharing and Notifications – With Call of Duty Elite’s new notification system, you can stay updated with what is going on in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, as well as communicate directly with your clan.

By going for the Season Pass route and free Elite service, this ensures that all players on the Xbox 360 will have access to the new DLC content the moment it's released. Yes, Xbox 360 players will again get all of the DLC as a timed exclusive before other platforms.

The Season Pass for Black Ops 2 will run you an additional $49.99 (USD), or you can buy each of the four packs separately at $15 a piece. There is still no word yet on whether or not PC gamers will have access to Elite. If Modern Warfare 3's integration with Elite is anything to go on, PC gamers shouldn't hold their breath.

I personally think this shows that Elite wasnt as successful as Activision thought it would be.

      Also, on the PC question:

Q - Why is Call of Duty® Elite not available on the PC or Wii U™ game system from Nintendo?

A - We are currently evaluating options for Call of Duty® Elite to support the PC and Nintendo’s Wii U™ game system, however Call of Duty® Elite for Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 will not support these two platforms when the game launches on November 13th.

So Elite was something seperate from the game developers and has been in place since MW3 when they were "evaluating" options for PC. So now we are at Black Ops 2 and they are "evaluating" it for PC. If they havent figured out how to give something to PC now, even now that it is free, it may be safe to assume that they will not have it.

Jesus Christ, these guys are completely daft. Take a damn clue from Gearbox with their Shift system. Or Runic with Torchlight 2.

BOTH of these are new games that utilize optional third party systems that must tie in with Steam. Want to know how they got it working? Look at the top of TGN. Yeah, they let the users sign in with the Steam Open ID: http://steamcommunity.com/dev

That excuse didn't fly before and it sure as hell isn't going to start flying now. Nevermind the fact that Battlelog already offered up support for most all of the features found in Elite back in the MW3 days, for FREE, for EVERYONE.

I dont think theyre daft. You are correct, Zips. DICE was able to make an entire system with a ton of the Elite features and for all platforms. Many have said it and I really believe it that Activisions main focus is Xbox and they tolerate PS3. PC is just extra pocket change.

Some may think that is harsh, but how many years does it take to make something that is already on two of the three platforms and has been done by a number of other companies? They dont want to put the resources on it.
