    • Call of Duty: Ghosts Dev Says Engine is Not New, Just Another Update

I am shocked at this news that the "next-gen" engine at work in Call of Duty: Ghosts is just another incremental update to the Quake III engine base that the series has used for the past eight years now. So, despite their claims of Ghosts running on a "new next-gen engine" (as actually said during the Xbox One reveal event) it seems as though it's not all that new after all. ...

  • EA Selling Last Year's FIFA Game as New on the Nintendo Wii

    0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
Fans are, understandably, a bit upset by this year's FIFA offering from EA Sports. According to gamers at Nintendo Gamer, EA Sports simply repackaged FIFA 12 for FIFA 13 and are selling it as new.

Which is which? Believe it or not, FIFA 12 is on top, FIFA 13 is bottom

Beyond changing the design on the field and updating the rosters, this year's game appears to be identical to last year's offering on the Wii. Beyond this, some fans are saying that FIFA 13 on the PlayStation Vita is almost identical to FIFA Football, a game released just six months prior.

When hit with the question as to why zero effort was put into FIFA 13 on these platforms, an EA representative avoided the question. They say that the game has "the same great gameplay" and "felt it was important to continue to offer fans the opportunity to play an authentic football experience on Wii."

In a recent interview with Wired, EA's COO Peter Moore was a bit more candid in his outlook of the Wii.

"Year on year, Wii has just dropped, and clearly we don’t make games for it anymore."

Here are a few more images for comparison.

Me either. I stopped buying sports games a LONG time ago because they just update the roster and add a few things. They do some major jumps in technology every few years, but I dont see it worth that.

Its why I dont want CS:GO, BF2.5, CoD whatever. I already own them. The only game I have that are "duplicates" are Valve games.

Thing is, most sports games at least make some sort of an effort to be different between years. And they certainly don't retain the exact same menus and UI elements that are near 100% replicated from the previous year.
