  • EA Kills Off the Online Pass

    0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
Rejoice fellow gamers, as EA is killing off the annoying and often times controversial online pass system! This system, in case you are somehow unaware of just what this stupid thing was, required you to put in a code to unlock features for the game you just bought. Not only did this screw with used game sales, it even managed to piss off those who bought the game new as they sometimes got screwed over.

EA's John Reseburg mentioned the discontinuation of the online pass to GamesBeat.

"Yes, we’re discontinuing Online Pass. None of our new EA titles will include that feature.

"Initially launched as an effort to package a full menu of online content and services, many players didn't respond to the format. We've listened to the feedback and decided to do away with it moving forward."

Don't worry though, EA is still fully committed to ensuring every game has DLC.

"We’re still committed to creating content and services that enhance the game experience well beyond the day you first start playing."

    Um... thanks?

As soon as I read the headline, I had an automatic and sudden urge to go to YouTube and get The Stars and Stripes Forever song playing on another browser tab (I do not know why). From there I read the rest of the article and noticed the accompanying picture. Weird. (Just a few more seconds and the song shall end....... Now. Ok time to hit the add comment button.)

Edit: I just re-read this newspost while listening to Celebration. My mind is acting all sorts of weird... What is with these automatic and sudden urges to do such random things? How many other songs am I going to go through before I'm done re-reading this? Crap, I now want to read this to Ding Dong the Witch is Dead...

It didn't work. It was a very flawed idea that messed up new purchases. I tried to stay away from games with the system in it just because of all the horror stories I read in forums on it.

I like the ending of this article. "We're still committed in making stuff for you guys to buy!" Well, yeah, but try to focus on making good stuff please and dropping the bad, thanks.

Don't worry Captain, EA is still fully committed to screwing us over, and screwing our favorite titles up.
