  • Report: Whore of the Orient Development Halted as Team Bondi Staff Laid Off

    0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
Team Bondi, the development studio behind L.A. Noire has let go of an undisclosed number of staff. Facing a variety of financial troubles, the team also had to put the development of Whore of the Orient on hold.

This is due in large to Warner Bros. pulling out of its alleged publishing deal right before Christmas 2012. The studio began fishing around for other potential publishers and though a publisher was thought to be found, the deal apparently fell through.

Whore of the Orient was slated to be set in 1936 version of Shanghai as "the most corrupt and decadent city on the planet."

"Shanghai. Plaything of Western powers who greedily exploit the Chinese masses. Boiling pot of Chinese nationalism, with the Kuomintang ruthlessly trying to suppress Communism and the labour movement. Home to the International Police Force, a group of Western cops hopelessly trying to keep the lid on and keep the peace."

The last word we heard about the game came back in late August of 2012, when it was revealed that the game was going to be a next-generation title.
