I'm glad I decided to check my HLDS email tonight, because I just saw that Valve is testing Counter-Strike 1.6 on both OSX and Linux. Naturally, we already know that they're working on a Linux version of Half-Life (http://totalgamingnetwork.com/content.php?681-Half-Life-Released-for-Linux), but CS1.6 is news to us!

As such, Valve is looking for interested parties to help test the new version via the Steam Pipe content system. Everything about this beta is new, including a number of changes to the game's dedicated server.

If you are interested in helping test this out, you should head on over to the Valve Developer Community and follow these instructions (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SteamCMD) precisely. The Counter-Strike 1.6 dedicated server is available as appid 90.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but this is just the server software right now and the client hasn't been released yet? I'm REALLY hoping someone can tell me I'm wrong, but I'm at work and don't have much time to look into it.

Edit: looks like the client....days ago, too!
