this is just a repackaged BF2, no?
weird, looks like you gotta pay to use certain things,
medic kit for 15 days ~ 6 bucks
gunship access for 30 days ~ 20 bucks
Yeah, guess it's a repackaged BF2 designed for the Asian market.
I can see the TGN flaming torches coming, time to run.

i don't get it, it's not like koreans can't play BF2, so why would they release practically the same thing just for korea? was BF2 never released in korea or something?

Am glad am not a korean right now , that game looks damn terrible for a brand new game, it looks the same as BF2 and that's outdated to hell now.

Whilst i won't pretend to be an expert on the Asian market, it operates very differently to that of the Western World. Many huge hits here such as Crysis or Call of Duty just aren't popular there, for numerous reasons.
In fact, i'll ask my mate who is from Hong Kong to give some insight here, he is better placed to provide an adequate retort.

The way I understand it, the Korean gaming market is unique... online gaming is pretty much a national pastime. The way they think about gaming is slightly different than how we approach it. I'd like to learn more about this.
IMO EA is being very smart by trying this out in the Korean market. The pundits say that the Korean market is "more advanced" than our market, so we might very well be going this direction...
I think something that others here may be forgetting is that this is to be a free to play online game. The "pay" part is for special items or roles which enhance the players experience but are not needed for play. I'm not sure how this works out, but I'm not the expert. I'd be willing to give it a try though!

Thanks for the info, paradisha. I hope you don't mind that I posted your post as a news post. :p

It has to do a lot with piracy. You can't pirate a free to play game that relies on microtransactions. Koreans as a society are even looser than the west with things like copyright, trademark and plagiarism.. in fact plagiarism is becoming a bit of an issue not just in the schools here, but places like newspapers, etc. PC games are actually hard to find on the shelf here. Wander around the electronics markets and you'll see PC shops all over the place selling hardware and console shops selling both, but I spent an hour wandering over one electronics market and didn't see a single shop selling PC software.

If you're really interested see my profile. I actually write a blog on Korea video games for foreigners. Mostly on how to sign up, but it contains some commentary and gameplay. Mostly FPS, because MMORPGs are out without mad korean skills..
Koreans are more social gamers. Not only do they play online games far more than single player games on the PC, they do it in PC rooms (local name for internet cafes). They'll often go as a group and all play together on a server.
In most places in North America that I've lived and been, internet cafes and wireless hotspots are for checking your mail, surfing, etc not really game playing.
As for the buyable items. They rarely effect game play. Generally guns and things like that are not on the buyable list, but if they are, they're often just a skin of an already available item, with the same stats/function. People in Korea seem to be more than happy to spend money on aesthetic stuff. They can also spend money on equalizers. Some guns, abilities, etc come with levels. You can't buy the levels, but you can buy power-ups that let you earn money or experience faster. All it basically does is let you compress the time it takes you to achieve goal X. It doesn't actually effect how well you fight against another player. For someone who can time sink you can reach all the same levels as someone who pays for it, but if they're really busy or impatient they can drop a few bucks to get 130% experience for 7 days or 150% in game money for 24 hours.
it's very legit. in fact, the company has other online partnership games with EA like FIFA. It goes beyond that, EA made something like a 20% investment a few years ago.
And what's with Korean sites and only allowing Internet Explorer?
At birth Koreans actually have an activeX control installed. There is the occasional site you can use with Firefox, but pretty much all security stuff, loaders, etc all function on activex. After installing tons of games to write about in my blog, my browser is the poster child for activex overdose.
