screen size shouldnt really matter, just dropping all ur gfx to low, if its more then one game you could have some faulty hardware

when i had this a logn time ago it was my processor overheating,
check the temperature with a program like core temp or something

I thought CoD4 needed 8600+?

I had a problem with a Northbridge or Southbridge chipset fan one time (can't remember which it was) and every time I played COD2, I would be fine for a few minutes and then after that, the sound would get all crackly and within a few seconds the game would lockup.

I'd have to reboot to get back to the OS. Normal operating was fine.

Like I said, it turned out to be one of the chipset fans, whichever chipset controls sound, South I think...anyway, it was overheating and causing the system to crash. I replaced the fan and voilla! it started working again.

Just something to consider. Take the side off of your case while your system is running and look to see if either of the chipset fans are not working, also check the fan on your video card.

COD4 only requires a 6600 minimum, so you should be fine with your card, I think.

yer maybe 1 of the fans has loads of dust in it or maybe its just broken
