Call of Duty HQ (http://www.codhq.com/) has posted up a news article about Call of Duty 4 Top Selling Game of November. Check out what they have to say:
NPD has just released their November hardware and software sales figures. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was on their top-10 software list twice; for the Xbox 360 version and the PS3.
• Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360) - Activision - Nov 2007 - 1.57 million
• Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Nintendo - Nov 2007 - 1.12 million
• Assassin’s Creed (360) - Ubisoft - Nov 2007 – 980 000
• Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS2) - Activision - Oct 2007 – 967 000
• Wii Play (with remote) (Wii) - Nintendo - Feb 2007 – 564 000
• Mass Effect (360) - Microsoft - Nov 2007 – 473 000
• Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) - Activision - Nov 2007 – 444 000
• Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii) - Activision - Oct 2007 – 426 000
• Halo 3 (360) - Microsoft - Sep 2007 – 387 000
• Assassin’s Creed (PS3) – Ubisoft - Nov 2007 – 377 000
Now let me put this in perspective... Halo 3 has sold, to-date, over 4 million copies. Call of Duty 4, in the one month it has been on sale, has sold over 2 million copies in total. Do I think CoD4 is going to outsell Halo 3? You bet your *** I do.
Pretty impressive Infinity Ward. You've made yet another AAA top-notch game for us. And for those PC fans (of which I am one) who ignorantly argue that "they should make the game specifically for PC, then port to consoles" (which I do not share that stance, by the way) - shame on you. If that had been the case, Infinity Ward would have been short a couple million sales. Notice that the PC is not on that top list. Surely it was probably a best-seller in the PC world as well, but even the PS3 outsold the PC version.
It definitely was a huge hit on every platform, but this hopefully goes to show you that just because YOU think the game is better on PC doesn't mean the world does.
