Call of Duty HQ (http://www.codhq.com/) has posted up a news article about Call of Duty 4 Top Selling Game of November. Check out what they have to say:
NPD has just released their November hardware and software sales figures. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was on their top-10 software list twice; for the Xbox 360 version and the PS3.

• Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360) - Activision - Nov 2007 - 1.57 million
• Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Nintendo - Nov 2007 - 1.12 million
• Assassin’s Creed (360) - Ubisoft - Nov 2007 – 980 000
• Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PS2) - Activision - Oct 2007 – 967 000
• Wii Play (with remote) (Wii) - Nintendo - Feb 2007 – 564 000
• Mass Effect (360) - Microsoft - Nov 2007 – 473 000
• Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) - Activision - Nov 2007 – 444 000
• Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (Wii) - Activision - Oct 2007 – 426 000
• Halo 3 (360) - Microsoft - Sep 2007 – 387 000
• Assassin’s Creed (PS3) – Ubisoft - Nov 2007 – 377 000

Now let me put this in perspective... Halo 3 has sold, to-date, over 4 million copies. Call of Duty 4, in the one month it has been on sale, has sold over 2 million copies in total. Do I think CoD4 is going to outsell Halo 3? You bet your *** I do.

Pretty impressive Infinity Ward. You've made yet another AAA top-notch game for us. And for those PC fans (of which I am one) who ignorantly argue that "they should make the game specifically for PC, then port to consoles" (which I do not share that stance, by the way) - shame on you. If that had been the case, Infinity Ward would have been short a couple million sales. Notice that the PC is not on that top list. Surely it was probably a best-seller in the PC world as well, but even the PS3 outsold the PC version.

It definitely was a huge hit on every platform, but this hopefully goes to show you that just because YOU think the game is better on PC doesn't mean the world does.

From the same article:

The month's top SKU was the Xbox 360 edition of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, with 1.57 million copies sold. Combined with the seventh-place PS3 version's 444,000-unit total, Activision's shooter went double platinum in one month on consoles alone. (NPD did not provide PC sales figures for the game.)

So, without this data, it's difficult to make any PC-vs-Consoles conclusions.

yeah the PC is not included in there. I'm sure the pc sold as much if not more copies. (if the pc was there at least crysis would be there) whoever wrote this article should be fired ;)

Pretty strange that the guy shot off his mouth without any numbers. He doesnt even KNOW how many PC titles were sold, but makes the quick ASSumption that even the praystation outdid it.

He called the diehard PC fans ignorant when they themselves didnt even have the numbers. :shakehead

See, I was all excited about this article until that ignorant comment and now I am rant mode.

Lets look at that list a sec. How many FPS games were on it? One, Halo, the game thats been out for two months (?) now and everyone has pretty much got it and settled down with it.

BUT HEY, it beat MARIO! Thats something, right??? Right guys? Guys?

Anyway, I still love the game and if it wasnt for PCs and their fans, they wouldnt be in a multi-billion dollar industry. Consoles try to live up to PCs, not the other way around, thats just how it is. (No, Im not a console vs PC person, but I am still in rant mode  )

Actually, I didnt relize it, but there are NO PC games on that list at all.

So CoD4 is #1 on 360, #1 on PS3, and I would bet you that its #1 on PC.

Looks as though this guy felt he had something to prove lol! Congrats to IW and CoD4 for doing so well on all platforms. I did some googling and I guess they don't list pc sales as much as they used to or something? :hmm: I couldn't find a number on the pc sales. It's done very well people obviously say, but no exact numbers. If this was a 'port', which Whiskey can own people on what ports really are ;), but anyway, I would have no complaint with a game like this b/c it's fun as all get out to me. Some people try to look at Crysis' pitiful sales on the PC and say it's the end of pc gaming...HAH! How about the fact that the game was a bust? Just because a game doesn't sell like they anticipated doesn't pc gaming if failing. I've never been interested in buying or playing Crysis. Tried out the mp beta for free and my guesses about it were correct. :dead:

Anyway, CoD4 owns face and it will be my game of choice for quite a while.
