1. How it is the Multiplayer part of this game? Does it feel like just a modded COD2? Anyone care to give a great review for just the MP portion?

2. These forums seem dead which is very surprising. Is that a reflection of this game, a reflection of PC gamers leaving to consoles, or a reflection of the shooter genre getting to be too similar altogether?

3. Just looking for a reminder-I don't need Vista and direct x 10, do I?

Thank you all. Have a great day.:hi:

For me, it was great to begin with, but then things just got a bit repetitive, so i returned to BF2. However, it's nice for a blast once in a while

Your talking about the Call of Duty 4 forum???
There are always new posts and threads. In fact it is one of our most popular sections after Total BF2 and Total BF2142.
However, there are times of the day where people are at work/school, and so obviously activity at these times of the day are low.

Nope. Will run fine on XP as it only uses Direct X9.

alex covers the questions well and, I believe, its in the top spots on game monitor as it comes to the number of servers and people playing.

I havent felt bored with it at all. There are 16 maps to play on, all in different settings and environments.

Out of those 16 maps you can play a number of different modes, such as;

Free-For-All - Everyone vs everyone
Team Death Match - Team 1 vs Team 2
Sabatoge - Grab a bomb and try to blow up the enemy stock pile. They do the same. (kinda like football with guns)
Search & Destroy - Its like CS:S style.
Domination - Three flags to capture and keep
Headquarters - An area pops up on the map and you fight to gain control of it. It disappears after a few seconds and then pops up somewhere else.

Then on top of that, you can play all these game types in another mode called Hardcore. Hardcore takes away the HUD and ammo bars and makes the weapons more powerful. Its a lot of fun and changes how you have to play the game.

Now there are two downsides to the MP;

1. The favorites - They tend to disappear. No reasoning behind it. I recommend that when you find a server you like, right down the IP address so you can use the \connect command to get into it.

2. The Browser - It has some design flaws. It does not show all the servers, even if you want it to and its filtering is a bit limited. For instance, you cannot filter for hardcore servers, but you can filter for game types and mods. My clan server was very popular and always had people on it, now it doesnt show up on the list. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt.

Those are the only two downsides to it. You rank quick and there are a lot of challanges to work toward. A lot of weapons and perks and different configurations to play with.

Ive enjoyed playing MP and SP.

Strange about the last couple of paragraphs in the second post there.
I'm glad to get soem good feedback about these things, especially MP.

As for my second question I brought up, I guess I looked at total posts and notice that not much is going on. I remember BF2 when that came out-it was "pandalirium".

That's called "spam". ;) And fortunately, the Total sites have been reworked so that a lot of off-topic and other useless stuff is contained in a shared section.

There are quite a few GOOD posts in this forum each and every day, but it's not a kindergarten chatroom. And things will pick up even more when the Mod/Map Tools are released, probably relatively soon.

This game is the best infantry based FPS that I have ever played. I started playing FPS games in January 2004 with MOH: Spearhead, so I've played a wide variety of FPS games.
