nice !!
That is kind of sad to take such a horrible event and make fun of it. Not my cup of tea.

Nah, its just a movie.
Actual WWII footage would have been a different story.
Yea, i know what you mean Vreki.
But, i think the war was a lot like that. And after reading a lot of WWII books and even my grandad's memories of war, i still don't find that fun to watch. In fact, i closed it after the first 10 seconds.

The D-Day scene certainly makes you think, but on the other hand we are playing wargames, often taking the role of the bad guys just for entertainment.
So showing this to a WWII vet would be a mistake, but for a bunch of gamers it is just a funny combination of two pieces of fiction.
I feel it is more insensitive when history channel shows us pictures of Tanks with the cooked crew hanging halfway out and other stuff like that.
But a reminder now and then about how real war is is probably a good thing
Of course that doesn't mean that you in particular has to like it, people perceive thing differently so your POV is equally valid.

See, i'm not really affected too much by that, only because they are cartoon characters. However, whilst playing games like Call of Duty 1 & 2, some scenes such as the Russian landing and d-day still makes you feel a bit weird. I know that real people aren't dying on my screen. But it seems strange that something pretty similar happened in real life not too long ago.

Well, history channels aim to remind people about what actually happened. I don't think it's disrespectful as they are not having a laugh about the situation. It's important to remind people of the absolute horror which did happen decades ago.
But, when i see video's of helicopter crews firing on militants and then laughing when they get blown up, i don't find that funny. I know the militants would have killed the US/UK (or where ever else's) troops, but i don't believe you should laugh at that sort of thing.

Funny... not too great, but it did make me chuckle.
I understand what you mean alex98uk, but remember, the video is from Saving Private Ryan, which was a movie, i.e. made for entertainment, in the first place. :)
